The Italian Ministry of Health in Rome, together with the Italian Federation of Nursing Associations and the European Biosafety Network, is hosting the 6th European Summit on Thursday 5 October in the Ministry’s auditorium in Trastevere. Attendees will include EU institutions, Social Partners, Professional Associations, Trade Unions, Academics and Practitioners across Europe and Italy.

The Summit will address Europe-wide issues related to both reducing sharps injuries and exposure to carcinogenic hazardous drugs in the hospital and healthcare sector. It will also look at the current situation in Italy, with new data and examples of best practice from other EU member states like Spain, which has established a consensus group with the government to address occupational exposure to hazardous drugs and to set up an Observatory to collect data on both sharps injuries and carcinogenic hazardous drugs.
